Lorwyn will be the first set of the new "Peanut" block, starting October 2007. The designers of the set are Aaron Forsythe (lead designer), Mark Rosewater, Paul Sottosanti, Brady Dommermuth, Nate Heiss, and Andrew Finch; the developers of the set are Devin Low (lead developer), Bill Rose, Matt Place, Henry Stern, Mike Turian and Doug Beyer.

According to TCGPlayer.com, Lorwyn will return to a more traditional fantasy setting. Even more interesting is that the new set will include an entirely new card type:[2] planeswalkers.[3]

The second set of the Lorwyn block will be called Morningtide. "Jelly" and "Doughnut" will not be part of the Lorwyn block, but will form their own block.[4]

It has been announced that Lorwyn block will feature a new keyword action.[5] Old keyword actions include Attach, Counter, Regenerate, Sacrifice, and Tap, and are a fundamental part of the game.

The description of the first book in the Lorwyn series, scheduled to be released in August 2007, hints that there may be a strong prevalence of elves in the block.[6] Merfolk will return again in this set according to Inquest Gamer Issue #150.

Wizards of the Coast has revealed that Tenth Edition Starter games include land cards that provide a preview of this set.[7] Also, certain Tenth Edition booster packs have a card featuring art from Lorwyn on the back of a rules card or token card.

De acordo com o site TCGPlayer.com, Lorwyn vai retornar ao estilo de fantasia tradicional. O mais interessante vai ser que o novo set irá incluir um novo tipo de carta: os Planeswalkers.

O segundo set do bloco de Lorwyn chamar-se-á “Morningtide”. “Jelly” e “Doughnout” não vão fazer parte do bloco de Lorwyn, mas irão fazer o seu próprio bloco. Foi anunciado que Lorwyn irá ter uma nova keyword - Evoke. As antigas keywords incluem Attach, Counter, Regenerate, Sacrifice e Tap que fazem parte fundamental do jogo.
